Janmashthami, the festival signifying the birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated with religious fervour in Vrindaban, the land where Krishna spent his childhood reverberating with chantings of ''Bansiware Ki Jai'' and ''Jai Jai Sri Radhey''.
As a precautionary measure policemen in plain clothes have also been posted at strategic points. Maximum rush of pilgrims was visible at Radha Raman temple, where Abhishek (coronation ceremony) of principal deity was completed in over four hours, amidst chanting of Vedic hymns.
Besides completing Abhishek of four principal deities in Radha Damodar temple Vrindaban, Abhishek of Girraj Shila (the peace of rock presented by Lord Krishna to Sanatan Goswami centuries ago) was also performed. Long queue of devotees was also seen, as they patiently waited for the prasadam and charnamrit.
